About Rupert

“I started off riding before I can even remember, my sister and I used to be lead around by our parents sat in a wicker basket on our little pony. I was very fortunate to grown up around horses as my mother evented and hunted. Living on a farm meant my sister and I could ride around the farm on the ponies at our free will, we joined the local Pony Club the Tiverton Hunt and hunted with the Tiverton Foxhounds.”

“After competing in Pony Clubs Areas for a few years I started affiliated competition in 2008 at the age of 13. In only my third affiliated season I moved up to Novice level and was selected for the South West U18 team to go to the national championships at Weston Park. From this point on I really had the ‘Eventing Bug’.”

“The following two years I was selected onto the South West team again, with two different horses that I had produced at home from youngsters. Manyoshu, now my main horse, was re-trained from an ex-racehorse by my sister and then passed on to me to take up through the levels from BE100. He competed at four 2*s this season and stepped up to Intermediate level.”

“During my competing I’ve had lessons from Sarah Harrison, Sara Maudsley and Tim Cheffings. Also working for Tim and Sara to gain valuable experience riding as many different horses as I can. During 2014 I was a working pupil for William Fox-Pitt, which was a fantastic opportunity but I have moved to Lizzie Brown Eventing for 2015 so that I can compete & train my own two horses while working for her.  I also wouldn’t have got to where I am today without my parents who help look after the horses, drive the lorry and are very useful at events!”
